Application Process

Potential Students are required to complete a short application form and a commitment contract.  We hold several beginner classes per year.  New Students may only start the class during one of these scheduled new classes.

Commitment Contract:

When a student signs up for a season of karate, they (and parent, if applicable) will be asked to sign a commitment contract, to attend class, practice outside of class, and fully participate until they achieve the belt level they signed up for.  The student also agrees to perform five hours of community service each month in order to earn the right to be in the class.

Community Service:

We want to teach our students to give back to their community.  We expect all students to perform five hours of community service a month.  Adults in the class are expected to make most of their community service hours by assisting with the beginner class as soon as they are able.  Community service can be anything the student does for someone else as a goodwill gesture.  They are NOT allowed to be paid for any services rendered.  Suggestions may include:

  1. Picking up bulletins in sanctuary after Sunday morning services.
  2. Picking up pine cones or raking a neighbor’s yard
  3. Visiting shut ins or nursing home
  4. Writing letters to deployed servicemen
